Finds During Sewer Camera Inspections in Sacramento

Most people assume a sewer camera inspection is just about finding a clog.
And yeah — we find plenty of those.

But after years of sending cameras down pipes all over Sacramento, we’ve seen a whole lot more than grease buildup and tree roots.
Here are just a few of the things we’ve discovered — the weird, the worrying, and the downright unexpected.

1. A Pair of Eyeglasses

No joke — we once found a pair of reading glasses stuck in a 3-inch pipe.
The homeowner said, “I thought I lost those at the park!”

Turns out, someone knocked them off the bathroom counter… and a curious toddler flushed them. They jammed just far enough in to cause weird bubbling and slow drainage — but not a full blockage.

2. A Whole Family of Tree Roots

Okay, this one’s a classic — but the scale was wild.
The roots had found their way through a tiny crack near a joint and had basically turned the pipe into a mini forest.

We showed the footage to the homeowner and they just said:

“I guess that explains the slow flushes.”

Hydro jetting cleared the line, but we had to replace that section of pipe to keep the roots from coming back.

3. A Wedding Ring

Yep. Someone flushed a ring — by accident, of course.
It had slipped off during a late-night sink rinse and disappeared down the drain.

We didn’t recover it (it had gone way past the traps), but we did confirm it wasn’t causing any blockages — which gave the owner closure, if not the ring itself.

4. A Partially Collapsed Pipe (and No One Knew)

No smell. No backup.
Just slightly slow drains every now and then.

The camera showed a section of pipe that had sagged and partially collapsed, creating a belly where waste would collect before eventually moving on. It hadn’t clogged — yet — but it was just a matter of time.

Catching it early saved that homeowner thousands in emergency repairs.

5. Construction Debris from Years Ago

In one older home, we found chunks of concrete and PVC glue blobs lodged deep in the line.

The kicker?
They’d been there since the house was built.
It wasn’t enough to stop the flow completely, but over time it had reduced the pipe’s capacity and led to recurring slowdowns.

6. A Mouse Skeleton (Yes, Really)

We don’t know how it got in.
We don’t know how far it traveled.
But there it was — clear as day on the camera feed.

Creepy? A little.
But also proof that pipes aren’t always a sealed system, especially if they’re old or damaged.

So Why Does This Matter?

Because not every plumbing problem looks like a flood.
Some creep up slowly.
Some don’t look like “problems” at all — until you see them from the inside.

A sewer camera doesn’t guess. It shows.
It finds the real reason your drain gurgles, your shower smells, or your toilet acts up once a week.

What We Tell Homeowners

If something feels off — it probably is.
And if you’re tired of playing guessing games, a camera inspection gives you answers in minutes.

Want to know what’s really going on in your pipes? We can take a look — and show you the footage right there on the screen.

Your pipes have stories.
We’ve just got the camera to tell them.
